Serious Editor 3 Beta Is Available
It’s Press Release day on FileFront, and this time it’s Serious Sam fans and modders who need to take note: You’ve just been handed a chance to take an active role in the development of Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter. In a release put out earlier today, Croteam has announced that Serious Editor 3 Beta will be available for FREE via an update on Steam. Participants will be able to make their own single player, co-op or multiplayer maps, fill them with custom objects and buildings, and distribute them worldwide. Which is just wonderful.
We’re not the first to point this out, but we don’t care because it’s hilarious. Croteam giveth the trash talk:
“Both Serious Sam fans and those nasty forum trolls always tell us that anyone could make a better campaign level or multiplayer map than us,” said an anonymous level designer at Croteam. “Well prove it, ladies. Knock yourselves out.”Granted, we can’t get behind the sexist frame, since there are a lot of hardcore gamers out there with two X chromosomes, but we love snapping trolls in the face, so we’ll call it even. Croteam plans to monitor the contributions, and will be choosing one – and only one – fan created map for inclusion in Serious Sam 3. Hopefully Croteam knows the C.R.E.A.M. and will be throwing that chedder at the lucky winner. Street cred is all well and good, but Valve just threw down the gauntlet big time, guys. Make it rain, ok?
